Sindh Vehicle Tax Calculator 2026-27: Token Tax, Registration and Transfer Charges
The Sindh vehicle tax calculator from the Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control Department gives you an itemised estimate of what a car or motorcycle will cost to register in Sindh. It also shows the annual motor vehicle tax, often called token tax, along with transfer charges and the withholding taxes that depend on your filer status.
How to Use the Official Sindh Vehicle Tax Calculator
In fact, the department runs two separate calculators, one for four-wheelers and one for two-wheelers. So, open the one that matches your vehicle:
[PORTAL GRID]
[/PORTAL GRID]
Then follow these steps:
- Enter the invoice date. First, the date decides whether late registration charges apply.
- Enter the vehicle price. Use the invoice value in rupees, because the registration fee is a percentage of it.
- Describe the vehicle. For example, for a car, choose the vehicle type, category, engine capacity and whether it was made locally or imported.
- Answer the extra questions. Also say whether transfer charges apply, whether you bought through HPA (bank financing) and whether you are a filer.
- Press Calculate Estimate. Finally, the result lists every charge with its basis and amount, followed by the total.
What Each Sindh Vehicle Tax Calculator Input Means
The four-wheeler Sindh vehicle tax calculator asks more questions than the two-wheeler version. The table below explains each input.
| Input | What to enter | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Invoice date | The date on the purchase invoice | Late registration charges start after 30 days |
| Vehicle price | The invoice value in rupees | Sets the registration fee and capital value tax |
| Vehicle type | Mechanical/Hybrid or Electrical | Electric cars enter motor power in kW instead of cc |
| Vehicle category | Car/Jeep, Double Cabin or Commercial | Each category has its own rates |
| Engine capacity | The cc from the invoice or registration book | Sets the tax band for most charges |
| Lifetime tax | Include or exclude, for cars up to 1,000cc | Pays the token tax once instead of every year |
| Manufactured | Locally manufactured or imported | Changes the luxury tax |
| Transfer charges | Yes if the invoice is not in the applicant's name | Adds the transfer fee and transfer withholding tax |
| HPA | Yes if the vehicle is bank financed | Adds the HPA fee |
| Taxpayer status | Filer or non-filer | Non-filers pay much higher withholding tax |
Meanwhile, for an electric car, the calculator converts each kW of motor power into about 22.8cc to find the matching band. Similarly, for a motorcycle, the two-wheeler calculator needs only the invoice date, price, engine capacity and the transfer and HPA answers.
Sindh Token Tax Rates 2026-27
Sindh charges motor vehicle tax, commonly called token tax, every year on private cars, and the Sindh vehicle tax calculator shows it as a separate line. The official Sindh vehicle tax calculator applied the following annual rates in September 2026:
| Engine capacity (private car or jeep) | Annual motor vehicle tax |
|---|---|
| Up to 1,000cc | Rs 1,500 |
| 1,001cc to 1,300cc | Rs 2,000 |
| 1,301cc to 1,600cc | Rs 4,000 |
| 1,601cc to 2,000cc | Rs 4,500 |
| 2,001cc to 2,500cc | Rs 5,000 |
| Above 2,500cc | Rs 7,000 |
Unlike Islamabad, which moved to value-based token tax in July 2026, Sindh still uses fixed amounts for each engine band. However, annual withholding tax under section 234 is collected alongside the token tax, and it rises with engine size and for non-filers.
Lifetime Token Tax for Cars up to 1,000cc
Owners of cars up to 1,000cc can pay the tax once instead of every year. Specifically, in the official calculator, the lifetime motor vehicle tax for this band is Rs 20,000, and a lifetime withholding tax of Rs 10,000 is added for a filer. By contrast, the annual option costs Rs 1,500 in token tax plus Rs 800 in withholding tax, so the lifetime choice pays off only if you keep the car for many years.
Motorcycle Token Tax in Sindh
For motorcycles and scooters, the Sindh vehicle tax calculator charges motor vehicle tax once at registration. In our tests, it showed Rs 1,800 for bikes up to 149cc and Rs 3,000 for 150cc and above.
Sindh Registration Fee by Engine Capacity
Generally, the registration fee is the largest single charge for most new vehicles, because it is a percentage of the invoice value. That is why the Sindh vehicle tax calculator asks for the price first. The department publishes these rates:
| Vehicle | Registration fee |
|---|---|
| Car or jeep up to 1,000cc | 1% of vehicle value |
| 1,001cc to 1,300cc car or jeep | 1.25% of vehicle value |
| 1,301cc to 2,500cc car or jeep | 2.25% of vehicle value |
| Above 2,500cc car or jeep | 5% of vehicle value |
| Motorcycle or scooter up to 149cc | 1% of vehicle value |
| Motorcycle or scooter of 150cc and above | 2% of vehicle value |
| Agricultural tractor | Rs 2,000 |
Every Charge in the Sindh Vehicle Tax Calculator, Explained
Beyond the registration fee and token tax, the calculator also adds several smaller charges. So, here is what each line means, with the amounts it showed for a private car.
| Charge | What it is | Amount seen in the calculator |
|---|---|---|
| Number plate fee | Standard plate charge | Rs 1,000 (Rs 500 for a bike) |
| Security-featured number plate fee | The Ajrak security plate | Rs 2,450 (Rs 1,850 for a bike) |
| Registration book fee | The registration document | Rs 500 |
| Smart card charges | The vehicle smart card | Rs 1,600 |
| Capital value tax | 1% of value on larger cars | Rs 65,000 on a Rs 6.5 million 1,500cc car |
| Luxury tax | Locally made cars of 1,500cc and above | Rs 25,000 (1,500–1,999cc), Rs 50,000 (2,000cc and above) |
| Withholding tax, section 231B | Collected at first registration | Rs 25,000 for a 1,300cc filer |
| Withholding tax, section 234 | Collected with the annual tax | Rs 2,500 for a 1,300cc filer |
| HPA fee | For bank-financed vehicles | Rs 3,000 for a 1,300cc car |
| Transfer fee | When ownership changes | Rs 500 to Rs 7,000, by vehicle |
Worked Examples from the Sindh Vehicle Tax Calculator
To show how the numbers add up, we ran these examples through the official Sindh vehicle tax calculator in September 2026. Also, each one assumes a locally made private vehicle, registered within 30 days, with no transfer or HPA.
| Example vehicle | Invoice value | Filer total | Non-filer total |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1,000cc car, annual tax | Rs 3,200,000 | Rs 54,850 | Higher (not tested) |
| 1,000cc car, lifetime tax | Rs 3,200,000 | Rs 82,550 | Higher (not tested) |
| 1,300cc car | Rs 5,000,000 | Rs 97,550 | Rs 150,050 |
| 1,800cc car | Rs 9,000,000 | Rs 407,050 | Higher (not tested) |
| 70cc motorcycle | Rs 160,000 | Rs 8,350 | Not applicable |
| 150cc motorcycle | Rs 550,000 | Rs 18,950 | Not applicable |
For instance, the 1,300cc car total breaks down into a Rs 62,500 registration fee, Rs 2,000 token tax, Rs 25,000 and Rs 2,500 in withholding taxes, and Rs 5,550 for the plates, book and smart card. For a quick estimate for any province, you can also try our vehicle tax calculator.
Filer vs Non-Filer: How Much More You Pay
Above all, filer status makes the biggest difference of any single answer in the Sindh vehicle tax calculator. For example, in our 1,300cc example, switching from filer to non-filer raised the section 231B withholding tax from Rs 25,000 to Rs 75,000. It also doubled the section 234 tax from Rs 2,500 to Rs 5,000.
In other words, the non-filer paid Rs 52,500 more on the same car. So, check your name on the FBR Active Taxpayers List before you register, because becoming a filer can save far more than it costs.
Late Registration and Transfer Charges
Owners must register new vehicles soon after purchase. The calculator adds late registration charges once the invoice is more than 30 days old, and it showed Rs 50,000 for a car registered 91 to 120 days late.
Moreover, fee guides based on the department's schedule list the full scale for cars: Rs 10,000 after 30 days, rising in steps to Rs 200,000 after 180 days. Therefore, register within the first month and avoid the penalty altogether.
Transfers, however, carry their own costs. Apart from the transfer fee, a transfer can attract withholding tax under section 231B, which the calculator showed at Rs 200,000 for a 1,300cc car when transfer charges applied. For the full transfer fee table, see our MTMIS Sindh guide.
Ways to Lower Your Sindh Vehicle Tax
You cannot negotiate the rates. Still, a quick run through the Sindh vehicle tax calculator shows where you can save, and these habits stop you paying more than you need to:
- Become a filer before you register or transfer a vehicle.
- Then register a new vehicle within 30 days of the invoice date.
- Transfer a used vehicle into your own name promptly, rather than driving on an open letter.
- Also consider the lifetime option on a small car you plan to keep for a long time.
- Pay the annual tax on time, because arrears build up and can block a transfer.
Frequently Asked Questions About the Sindh Vehicle Tax Calculator

How much is token tax for a 1,300cc car in Sindh?
Specifically, the official calculator showed Rs 2,000 a year for a private car from 1,001cc to 1,300cc. In addition, the calculator adds section 234 withholding tax on top, at Rs 2,500 for a filer in our example.
