E-Challan Sindh: TRACS Challan Check, Fines, Payment and Appeals
E-challan Sindh refers to the faceless traffic tickets that Sindh Police now issue through TRACS, the Traffic Regulation and Citation System. Cameras spot the violation, the system reads the number plate and the fine reaches the registered owner, with no traffic warden involved.
What Is TRACS?
TRACS is the Sindh Police system behind every e-challan in Sindh. Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah inaugurated it in Karachi on 27 October 2025, and it began issuing e-challans the next day.
Essentially, the system uses AI-enabled CCTV cameras to detect violations such as overspeeding, red-light jumping, seat belt and helmet offences, and mobile phone use. At first, it launched with about 200 cameras, and officials plan to expand to 12,000 cameras across Karachi and later to other districts. Because TRACS links to the Excise and Taxation records, the driving licence system and NADRA, it can match a plate to its owner automatically.
How to Check an E-Challan in Sindh
The official check runs on the Sindh Police TRACS website. Follow these steps:
- Open the TRACS challan page. Use the button above, because it goes straight to the official page.
- Enter the vehicle's registration number. Type it exactly as it appears on the number plate.
- Complete any security check. Then submit the search.
- Review each challan. Note the violation, the date, time and place, the fine and the payment due date.
- Save the record. Take a screenshot before you pay, and keep the receipt afterwards.
If the page loads slowly, try again later. Indeed, heavy traffic has slowed the portal at busy times, especially around enforcement deadlines.
Using the TRACS 4 Citizens App
Sindh Police also publishes the official TRACS 4 Citizens app on Google Play. According to its store listing, the app lets you check e-tickets by registration number, see your ticket history and check whether each challan is paid or unpaid. In addition, you can file complaints and request a first-time deferment through it.
Some users report login and notification problems in the app, however. So, if the app misbehaves, use the TRACS website instead.
What an E-Challan Sindh Notice Shows
A genuine e-challan in Sindh carries enough detail for you to check it. Look for these items:

Generally, fines under TRACS are far higher than the old manual tickets, and Sindh has also introduced a demerit points system. The amounts depend on the offence and the vehicle type. Here are some figures reported by trusted outlets:

What Gets Fined Most in Karachi
On the first day of e-challan Sindh enforcement, cameras issued 2,662 tickets worth more than Rs 12.5 million in just six hours, The News reported. Most of them were for:
- Not wearing a seat belt, with 1,535 tickets.
- Riding without a helmet, with 507 tickets.
- Overspeeding, with 419 tickets.
- Jumping a red light, with 166 tickets.
In other words, the easiest fines to avoid are also the most common ones. So, buckle up, wear a helmet and respect the speed limit, and you remove most of the risk.
How to Pay an E-Challan in Sindh
TRACS connects to online payment gateways, so you can pay an e-challan in Sindh straight from your phone. Pay through the channel shown on your challan or in the TRACS system, and keep the receipt.
If you prefer help in person, TRACS Sahulat centres at major traffic offices and police stations assist citizens with payments, questions about a violation and contested challans. Pay before the due date, because unpaid fines now lead to much tougher action.

How to Contest a Wrong E-Challan in Sindh
Cameras make mistakes, and cloned plates are a real problem. Soon after launch, for example, Geo News reported a citizen who received an e-challan for a violation he said he never committed. If you believe an e-challan in Sindh is wrong, act quickly:
- Check the evidence. Compare the photo with your vehicle's make, colour and plate.
- Gather your proof. Keep your registration book or smart card, your CNIC and anything that shows where the vehicle was.
- File a complaint. Use the complaint option in the TRACS 4 Citizens app, or visit a TRACS Sahulat centre.
- Report a cloned plate. If another vehicle is using your number, report it to the police and the Excise office.
For genuine first-time mistakes, the app offers a first-time deferment request. In November 2025, ProPakistani also reported a relief under which first-time violators could have a fine waived within ten days by submitting a written apology in person. Ask a Sahulat centre whether this still applies before you rely on it.
Blacklisting: What Happens If You Do Not Pay
Today, an unpaid e-challan in Sindh no longer sits quietly in the system. By March 2026, officials reported more than 600,000 e-challans issued since launch, and 23,000 vehicles of repeat non-payers had been blacklisted. By June 2026, the list had reached about 40,000 vehicles.
Traffic police and the Excise Department then began a joint crackdown on 1 July 2026, including fines and impounding. According to PakWheels, a vehicle can land on the blacklist for:
- Pending e-challans that the owner has not paid.
- Ownership that was never transferred to the current user.
- Incomplete documentation or unverified registration data.
- An incorrect or unverified address in the Excise record.
Therefore, check your e-challan Sindh status regularly, pay every due challan and make sure the Excise record shows your current address.
E-Challans and Buying or Selling a Vehicle
Every e-challan in Sindh follows the registered owner, and that rule cuts both ways. If you sell a car but the buyer never transfers it, fines for the buyer's driving can still reach you.
So, as a seller, complete the transfer at the Excise office promptly and keep a dated sale agreement. As a buyer, run an e-challan Sindh check on the plate before you pay, alongside a vehicle verification in Sindh. Also make sure the vehicle carries a genuine Ajrak security plate, which you can confirm with a Sindh number plate check.
Beware of Fake E-Challan Messages
Unfortunately, scammers copy the look of official traffic messages to steal card details. For example, they often send an SMS about a "detected violation" with a link to a payment page.
Never pay an e-challan in Sindh through a link in an unexpected message. Instead, open the TRACS website yourself, search your registration number and pay only if the challan appears there. If you have already entered card details on a suspicious page, call your bank straight away.
Where E-Challans Apply in Sindh
TRACS currently covers Karachi, and the Sindh government plans to extend it to other major cities after reviewing its performance. The system keeps growing within the city too. In June 2026, for example, automated lane-violation e-challans went live on Shahrah-e-Faisal, where cars must keep to the right-hand lanes and motorcycles and commercial vehicles to the left.
