Balochistan Token Tax Calculator 2026: Rates, Lifetime Tax and Registration Fees

Balochistan token tax is still among the lowest in Pakistan, yet the rules behind it confuse many owners. Should you pay every year or once for life? Does the age of your car change the amount? And what else does the Excise office add when you register a new vehicle?

How to Use the Balochistan Token Tax Calculator

The department offers two ways to estimate your Balochistan token tax. First, the official tax portal at taxes.excise.gob.pk works out the amount due on a registered vehicle. Second, its website hosts a schedule-based calculator that estimates tax and fees for any vehicle type.

How the Balochistan token tax and fees add up

In practice, the schedule-based calculator follows these steps:

  1. Choose Tax Only or Tax + Fees. Pick Tax + Fees if you are registering a new vehicle.
  2. Select the vehicle type. Options range from Cars and Jeeps to rickshaws, buses, trucks and tractors.
  3. Add the details. For example, for a car, choose the engine capacity band and the vehicle's age, or enter the seating capacity for a bus.
  4. Choose the payment period. Then pay for one, two or three quarters, or for the whole year.
  5. Enter the value and fees. Finally, add the vehicle value for the registration fee, and then tick any extra fees that apply.

Balochistan Token Tax Rates for Cars and Jeeps

For private cars and jeeps, Balochistan token tax depends on two things: engine capacity and the number of years since first registration. Accordingly, the schedule effective from 1 July 2025 sets these rates:

Engine capacityAnnual tax (Rs)Lifetime tax if new or under 5 years (Rs)5 to 10 years old (Rs)Over 10 years old (Rs)
Up to 660cc1,000 after year 510,5009,5008,500
661cc to 1,000cc1,100 after year 512,00011,00010,000
1,001cc to 1,500cc1,40017,00015,00013,000
1,501cc to 2,000cc1,70020,00018,00016,000
Above 2,000cc2,00024,00022,00018,000

In short, the annual option for cars up to 1,000cc applies only after five years of registration. Until then, they pay lifetime tax.

Similarly, vans and station wagons follow the same bands, except that those above 2,000cc and over 10 years old pay Rs 20,000 for the lifetime option.

Lifetime or Annual: Which Should You Choose?

So, for a new car up to 1,000cc, there is no choice: the schedule charges lifetime tax only. For bigger cars, however, the maths is simple. A new 1,300cc car pays Rs 17,000 once, or Rs 1,400 a year, so the lifetime option only pays off after about 12 years.

In other words, most owners who sell within a decade save money by paying Balochistan token tax annually. Conversely, the lifetime option suits owners who plan to keep a car for a very long time, or who simply want to stop worrying about renewals.

Still, one detail catches people out. According to the schedule's explanation, the lifetime rate for cars up to 1,000cc counts only the years for which the owner actually paid tax. So, unpaid years do not move a car into a cheaper age band.

Token Tax for Motorcycles and Commercial Vehicles

Motorcycles and scooters pay a one-time lifetime Balochistan token tax of Rs 1,500. Commercial vehicles, on the other hand, pay every year:

VehicleAnnual token tax
RickshawRs 2,000
Pickup or delivery vanRs 2,000
Motorcycle with trolleyRs 1,000
Tractor with trolley or tankerRs 5,000
Mini truck (4,060–8,119 kg)Rs 4,000
Truck or oil tanker, 6 wheelerRs 5,000
Truck or oil tanker, 10/12 wheelerRs 6,000
Trailer (all types)Rs 6,000
Bus, up to 44 seatsRs 150 per seat
Bus, above 44 seatsRs 100 per seat
Mini busRs 100 per seat

Meanwhile, agricultural tractors are exempt. Also, if you pay by quarter, the schedule adds a small surcharge of Rs 8 per quarter for pickups and rickshaws, and Rs 18 per quarter for other light and heavy vehicles.

Registration Fee in Balochistan

In addition to Balochistan token tax, a new vehicle pays a one-time registration fee, set as a percentage of its value. Currently, the fees effective from 15 May 2025 are:

VehicleRegistration fee
Car or jeep up to 1,500cc1% of value
Car or jeep of 1,500cc and above1.25% of value
Pickup, van or station wagon1.25% of value
Motorcycle, rickshaw or tractor1% of value
Trucks, trailers, buses and mini buses0.5% of value

Other Fees the Excise Office Charges

Beyond Balochistan token tax and the registration fee, several fixed charges may apply. Below, the table lists the main ones for a light vehicle such as a car.

FeeCar or light vehicleMotorcycle
Number plate feeRs 2,100Rs 1,800
Smart card feeRs 2,250Rs 2,250

Duplicate book feeRs 1,000Rs 250

Worked Examples of Balochistan Vehicle Charges

To show how Balochistan token tax and fees add up, we applied the published schedule to four new, privately owned vehicles. Also, each total includes the registration fee, token tax, number plate, computerised book and smart card, but not federal withholding tax.

Example vehicleValueTotal with annual taxTotal with lifetime tax
1,000cc carRs 3,500,000Lifetime onlyRs 52,050
1,300cc carRs 5,000,000Rs 56,450Rs 72,050
1,800cc carRs 9,000,000Rs 119,250Rs 137,550
125cc motorcycleRs 250,000Lifetime onlyRs 8,750

For example, the 1,300cc car breaks down into a Rs 50,000 registration fee, Rs 1,400 token tax, Rs 2,100 for the plate, Rs 700 for the book and Rs 2,250 for the smart card. For a quick estimate for other provinces, you can also try our vehicle tax calculator.

Late Payment and Late Registration Penalties

Of course, paying late costs more, although Balochistan's penalties remain modest by national standards. Specifically, the schedule charges a penalty of Rs 120 per quarter on overdue tax.

Likewise, late registration carries its own charge. For instance, where the delay exceeds 12 months, the enhanced fee is Rs 500 for two- and three-wheelers and Rs 1,000 for four-wheelers. Even so, register promptly, because nobody can properly transfer or insure an unregistered vehicle.

Electric Vehicles in Balochistan

For an electric vehicle, the department first converts the motor's power from kilowatts into an equivalent engine capacity, and then applies the matching band. Moreover, the schedule allows a rebate on EV registration, subject to the Electric Vehicle Policy.

Even better news may follow. In the Balochistan Budget 2026-27, the government proposed a 100% tax concession for new electric vehicles, which PakWheels reported in June 2026. So, check the final Finance Act before you rely on it.

Once you know the amount, pay it through the department's online portal at taxes.excise.gob.pk, or at a designated bank against a challan from your ETO office. Afterwards, keep the receipt with your registration documents, since the Excise office may ask for it during a transfer.
